If the challenging economy in the St. Louis area has been keeping you from enjoying all the wonderful summer festivals that Missouri has to offer, there may just be one fair that your family can attend this year after all. The Washington Town & Country Fair will run from August 3rd through August 7th and it's full of family-friendly fun that won't completely wreck your budget.
Every parent knows that even as much as you enjoy taking your kids to a carnival or festival, you end up spending a fortune because your kids always want to go on more rides, long after they've used up their allotment of tickets. At the Washington Town & Country Fair, they can ride to their hearts' content because the Midway is included in your admission price. Not only does this save money for your family, but it saves having to go back and wait in long lines over and over again to buy more tickets, so you get to spend your time actually enjoying the fair.
And what a fair it will be! This fair, which is just an hour outside downtown St. Louis, is packed full of fun stuff for little ones. In addition to the carnival rides, the kids can go wild in the bounce house, try their luck on the Velcro wall, participate in the Spaceship Crawl, run through the obstacle course, become "elastic" on the Bungee run, have their faces painted, visit the petting zoo and learn some safety tips at Safetyland. These activities are just the beginning though. There are also tons of great shows and contests to participate in or watch.
Kids will have a ton of fun with turtle races, a bubble gum blowing contest, a hula hoop contest, the backseat driver contest, karaoke and more. Special guests will include Babaloo, who will have your kids singing and laughing with his hilarious songs, Ronald McDonald, The Muny Kids, magician Laurence Levy and ventriloquist Mike Coleman. Plus, the fair will feature chain saw carvers, several livestock shows, bull riding, talent contests, a hot air balloon, rodeo, tractor pull, SCOPE robotics demonstration, sporting events, a pie eating contest and more activities than you can visit all in one day!
This incredible five-day festival is jampacked with fun for your family, including nightly concerts by some of the biggest names in the music industry. Country music fans will enjoy concerts by Little Big Town and Joe Nichols, while rock fans will be thrilled to see Collective Soul and Lifehouse.
If you can't wait to jump in on the fun, go ahead and order your tickets in advance. You can save on your admission price by purchasing a 5 day pass or you can simply purchase individual tickets. For a complete schedule of activities, visit the fair's website. Once you've picked your favorite fun-filled days, you can go ahead and order your tickets online.
If the heat, or your budget has been keeping you in, it's time to get out and enjoy one of the best festivals in Missouri!
