Authorities arrived at Cook's residence located on the 3700 block of Little Kalama River Road after the youth's mother called 911. According to the sheriff's report, Cook had an argument with his mother, grabbed a machete, and chased the family cat down and hacked at her until she died.
When questioned by deputies Cook said he had no issues with the cat, but said he had felt "funny” all day, and that “it was kind of like a dream when he did it.”
Cook admitted to have been using meth and has been charged with first degree animal cruelty. Bail was set at $2,500.
