The 2010 local college soccer season has a cool local kick off when the University of Washington Huskies women travel to Capitol Hill to take on the SeattleU Redhawks at 5:00 PM at Championship Field on Friday, August 20th (Ticket info). The Redhawks are done with their NCAA Division One probationary period and this season are eligible to advance to the playoffs tournament if they can make a run.

"I am feeling very optimistic about this season," Redhawks head coach Julie Woodward told the school athletic website. "The potential of going to the tournament does add some pressure because it is a players and coaches dream. We are a big coaching staff that likes to take it one game at a time and to earn an at-large berth is going to be a challenge."

"The past two years have been good years for our program, but good isn't the goal and never has been for our team," said Washington head coach Lesle Gallimore on GoHuskies.com. "Our goal is to be great and be in contention for a Pac-10 title and a National Title every year. We have an ambitious and motivated returning squad which for me is the key to any college team's success. In soccer, if preparation, training, and learning the nuances of the game are more important to the coaching staff than the players you are never going to be much more than a good team."
