A cold front that produced widespread showers and thunderstorms last night continues to move to our south and east. This resulted in a mostly sunny sky today along with seasonable temperatures as highs reached the mid 70s on average. High pressure will continue to build over the Middle Atlantic states tonight and on Friday. With a clear sky and light winds, temperatures will fall into the upper 50s at some rural and inland locations, with low to mid 60s elsewhere. Friday will be another sunny day with highs in the upper 70s to around 80. With high pressure overhead, humidity levels will be comfortable for June. Looking ahead, the upcoming weekend will continue to be dominated by high pressure, but the center of the high will move offshore later in the weekend and a southerly, more humid flow of air will develop. Consequently, next week will feature sunshine, but humidity will increase along with the likelihood of afternoon thunderstorms.
