A cold front moved to our south overnight and high pressure continued to build over central Maryland today. The result was abundant sunshine and warm temperatures with highs in the lower 80s. However, humidity levels were quite low with dew point values only in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Consequently, it was a comfortable mid-June afternoon with a deep blue sky and cirrus clouds. To our south, a stalled frontal system produced much more humid conditions in central Virginia. Low pressure will move along the front and bring showers and thundershowers to Virginia on Sunday. Warm, moist air overrunning relatively cool, dry air at the surface over Baltimore and Washington will allow for the development of considerable cloudiness on Sunday along with a few rain showers. Temperatures will be cool for the official start to the summer season with highs only in the lower to middle 70s. Warmer and more humid weather will return next week.
