Brian's exclusive forecast for Washington DC:
This evening: Mostly cloudy with widespread thunderstorms. Some storms may be severe with heavy downpours and gusty winds. The low will be in the upper 60s.
Monday: A good chance of showers early, then gradual clearing. The high will be in the mid 80s.
Monday Night: Clearing and cooler. Less humid. The low will be in the lower 60s.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny and unseasonably mild with a high in the upper 70s to near 80.
The extended outlook calls for sunshine and low humidity on Wednesday and Thursday with lows from the upper 50s to mid 60s and highs in the lower 80s. Mostly sunny on Friday with a low in the lower 60s and a high in the lower 80s.
High pressure off the coast is producing a warm and humid flow of air over the region. Meanwhile, a strong cold front is approaching Baltimore and Washington from the northwest. As the front clashes with the warm, moist air in place over the Middle Atlantic states, widespread thunderstorms will develop this evening and will persist into Monday morning. As the front moves to our south and east on Tuesday, beautiful mid-summer weather will develop with sunshine and low humidity on Tuesday through Thursday. Overnight lows may dip into the 50s inland, with low 60s elsewhere. Highs each day will be in the lower 80s.
