Brian's exclusive forecast for Washington DC:
This evening: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe. The low will be around 70.
Tuesday: Warm and humid with numerous showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. The high will be in the upper 80s.
Tuesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms with a low in the upper 60s.
The extended forecast calls for clouds giving way to sunshine on Wednesday with a low in the upper 60s and a high in the upper 70s. Mostly sunny on Thursday with a low in the upper 50s to lower 60s and a high in the upper 70s. Clouds and sun on Friday with a low in the upper 50s to lower 60s and a high in the lower 80s.
A very warm, humid flow of air continues over the Middle Atlantic states today. This set-up is a classic "Bermuda High" that will keep the area hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s and heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. An upper-air trough will move through the region this evening, sparking widespread thunderstorms. Meanwhile, a strong cold front will approach Baltimore and Washington from the west on Tuesday. This will produce widespread thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and evening as cooler, drier air behind the front clashes with warm, humid air in place over central Maryland. Cooler and less humid air will overspread the Middle Atlantic states by the middle of the week with highs only in the upper 70s in Baltimore and Washington by Thursday.
