High pressure provided a sunny but windy day in the Middle Atlantic states today. Highs today approached 60 degrees, but it felt cooler due to winds gusting over 30 miles per hour at times. The center of high pressure will move off the coast tonight and Sunday. Meanwhile, low pressure will move to our west on Monday and a trailing cold front will push from west to east across the region. This will result in more cloudiness and widespread rain showers on Monday. The clouds and precipitation will keep temperatures on the cool side with highs only in the lower 50s on Monday (average highs for this time of year are in the lower to middle 60s). Rainfall on Monday is not expected to be all that heavy, but some areas could receive up to 1/2 inch of rainfall by Monday evening. High pressure will then build over the area on Tuesday through Thursday with a mostly sunny sky and seasonable temperatures with highs each day in the lower 60s.
