Washington commit Marquese Chriss is invited to try out for USA U18 team

Marquese Chriss has been invited to participate in the USA Men’s National Team U18 training camp according to news reports on June 5. The Washington commit is one of 21 players that will be at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo., from June 10-19.

Marquese Chriss is a four-star prospect out of Elk Grov, Calif. He chose to commit to Washington over Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-9 junior power forward from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove,Calif., is considered to be a long shot to make the final 12-man roster due to the vast talent of other participants.

Arizona bound Stanley Johnson and Texas signee Miles Turner headlines a group of top prospects trying to make the squad. Turner is ranked as the No. 2 prospect and Johnson is listed as the No. 7 prospect in the class of 2014 by ESPN Recruiting Nation.

Other top prospects from the class of 2014 include No. 4 Tyus Jones (Duke signee), No. 13 D’Angelo Russell (Ohio St. signee), No. 15 Justise Winslow (Duke signee), No. 19 Rashard Vaughn (UNLV signee) No. 38 Kameron Chatman ( Michigan signee), No. 39 Dwayne Morgan (UNLV) , No. 44 Leron Black (Illinois signee) and No. 53 Jakeen Grant (Missouri signee).

No. 6 Stephen Zimmerman (Las Vegas, Nev.) is also among the prospects from the class of 2015 looking to make the team. Other invitees from the class of 2015 include No. 8 Jaylen Brown (Alpharetta, Ga.), No. 15 Malachi Richardson (Syracuse commit), No. 20 Isaiah Briscoe (Union, N.J.), No. 22 Jalen Brunson (Lincolnshire, Ill.), No. Justin Simon (Arizona commit), No. 24 Tyler Dorsey (Arizona commit), No. 29 P.J. Dozier (Columbia, S.C.), No. 31 Luke Kennard (Duke commit) and No. 98 Glynn Watson (Westchester, Ill.)

Florida head coach Billy Donovan will lead the team and is assisted by Ed Cooley (Providence) and Sean Miller (Arizona). Danny Manning (Wake Forest), John Moore (Westmont College) and Steve Schmidt (Mott Community College) will be court coaches.

Following training Team USA will participate in the FIBA Americas U18 in Colorado Springs, Colo., (June 20-24) along with Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Mexico and Uraguay.
