It is sometimes almost unbearable to digest the workings of Washington politics. The constant political positioning set, over the needs of practical, responsible governing is blatant. It is no wonder that no matter the intentions of those who may really show up as true believers, even they can end up the most jaded given enough exposure to the political "gamesmanship" that has now all but replaced statesmanship..
It is truly painful to recognize the sheer baseness of the human condition in those who are charged with administering governance to the people. Perhaps because the inherent nepotistic nature of the world of professional politics, the “eligible” pool becomes more and more devoid of divergence both in membership and in philosophy. And no, I am not just talking about the highly visible Republican leadership and not so visible Tea party but none the less radical in their distaste for our now re-elected first black POTUS. This malady of self over country is everywhere in governance where there is opportunity for it to be.
Unfortunately the system continues to fester in self generated flaws like the currently popular debt ceiling, archaic & at times intentionally defective procedural rules complemented, encouraged or maneuvered by the top obstacle for a government of and for the people,…the “lobbying” classes.
We are all aware of this to one degree or another. Whether you are a Republican, a Democrat, a Tea party or Coffee part or, just a party animal most everyone has witnessed the public dis-function of congressional politics and the ridiculousness of too many of our representatives from both sides of the isle.
The sad part is that we can all see it but, we can get organized to make it stop. As a people, whether you are a conspiracy monger or the most sober of intellectuals we are divided. And whether the conspiracy monger blames it on a Black POTUS or lizard people disguised as world leaders to control us nor if the sober intellectual defines it as the nature of our human condition. It is this division that is at the center of most any of our issues.
For as long as the people stay divided and refuse to compromise (let alone respect and try to understand other cultures and idiosyncrasies), the fate of our country and it's people will be controlled only by those who can organize and act within that dysfunction.
