Washington Animal Rescue League to host 33-hour adopt-a-thon this weekend

What would you pay for a bouncing, playful ball of fur who will make you laugh with her antics with a catnip mouse? How much for a loving, calm companion who will curl up next to you and purr while you pet him? This weekend, cat adopters get to answer those questions at the Washington Animal Rescue League’s 33-hour “adopt-a-thon,” during which adopters can decide for themselves what they wish to pay for their new animal pals. Of course, league staffers—and probably the new pet parents, too—consider the cats (and dogs) in their care priceless.

Cat adoption fees at the league are normally $50 to $100. The adoptable cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and have received medical and behavioral evaluations—all things to keep in mind when deciding how much to pay for your new pet. Adoption counselors will help adopters choose just the right pet.

The adopt-a-thon will also feature raffles, prizes for some lucky adopters, and tasty treats for animals and humans alike. For adoption information, or for anything else you need to know about the event, visit the league’s adopt-a-thon blog.
