Washburn to face Forest Hills in class D girls basketball state game

Carmen Bragg, Carsyn Koch, and Nicole Olsen will play their last game in a Washburn Beavers uniform in the class D girls basketball state championship game.

The Beavers have a record of 83-5 in the four years that Bragg, Koch, and Olsen have worn the Washburn uniform.

They will be going for their fourth straight state championship, when they face Forest Hills on Saturday @ 1 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.

Koch recorded 19 points, eight rebounds, and three steals to lead Washburn (20-2) to a 74-51 victory over Van Buren in the Eastern Maine final.

Junior Mackenzie Worcester runs the Beavers offense. She had 18 points and eight assists in the regional final victory.

Olsen is a threat from the outside. She hit five three pointers against Van Buren.

Washburn set a class D tournament record by scoring 232 points in their three tournament games.

Bragg and Koch were selected to the class C /D McDonald's Eastern Maine girls all star team.

The Beavers will be facing an undefeated Tigers team that seems to have a little magic going for them right now.

Kori Coro hit the :"shot heard around Maine" when she hit a three pointer at the buzzer to lift Forest Hills (21-0) to a 53-52 victory over Rangeley in the Western Maine final.

The Tigers set a regional class D record by hitting 22 three pointers in their three tournament games. Coro made 11 of those shots.

Coro was selected to the class C/D McDonald's Western Maine girls all star team.
