Wasabi Chi (5418 Douglas Avenue, Des Moines) opened in late 2011, and the restaurant ended up winning immediate acclaim from the local critics. Now the owners of Wasabi Chi have opened a sister store, Wasabi Tao, in Downtown Des Moines. The new restaurant opened in the spot formerly occupied by Cuatro at 400 Walnut in the Kirkwood Building.
Wasabi Tao opened its doors on January 24. Chef Tony He's menu will be somewhat similar to its sister restaurant, offering a variety of sushi options and appetizers, as well as some Asian fusion dishes. The restaurant also offers beer, wine, and specialty drinks.
Wasabi Tao is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
