The body of 10-year-old missing boy Devon Morrison was located in the Flat River near Ashfield Bridge this afternoon, Sept. 16, 2013 -- bringing an end to the emotional search for the child. It's an ending that nobody wanted, as searches for him have spanned throughout the entire weekend. He vanished after leaving his home to go fishing at the river where his body has been found. However, his shoes were found Sunday, which led to the search that ultimately led to the discovery of his remains. Now there is speculation about the possibility of murder -- but is that truly what happened?
How did Devon Morrison's shoes end up off and in a different part of the river? Did the strength of the currents yank them off of his feet as he floated downstream? Or did someone harm this little boy and then dispose of the evidence in the very river where he intended to fish over the weekend?
An autopsy is scheduled, so a cause of death won't be known in Devon's case until later. It's not known if his death was an accident or if it was the result of some type of foul play. However, a news report indicates that officials have said "there are no suspects yet," indicating that there is indeed a possibility that this child was harmed while at the river. If someone did kill Devon, it's hopeful that justice will be served in a way that is fitting. Otherwise, the family must pick up the pieces of their broken lives and move on with hopes that in time the pain of this loss will subside.
