Was appeals court nomination a health care bribe?

President Obama on Thursday will host 10 Democrats who voted against the health care bill in November. The obvious reason the 10 Dems have been invited to the White House is to attempt to convince them to change their votes. But is the president trying to buy their votes?


One of the Democrats who has been invited to the White House is Jim Matheson, D-Utah. The White House issued a press release on Wednesday afternoon announcing thatPresident Obama has nominated Matheson's brother, Scott M. Matheson, Jr. to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.


“Scott Matheson is a distinguished candidate for the Tenth Circuit court,” President Obama said in the release. “Both his legal and academic credentials are impressive and his commitment to judicial integrity is unwavering. I am honored to nominate this lifelong Utahn to the federal bench.”


There is probably no arguement that Matheson is not qualified, but the timing of the nomination begs for the question to be asked. Is the president trying to buy Jim Matheson's vote? It is all to reminiscent of the Louisiana Purchase and the Cornhusker Kickback.


If I remember correctly, one of Obama's key campaign promises was to change the way Washington works. He was to put an end to back room deals and shady politics. Of course I was never fooled by this charlatan's lies. The truth was plain to see for anyone who took the time to look for it. Unfortunately many Americans were duped into believing this con man was the real deal and now we're stuck with him for at least three more years. I only hope the country can survive.

    If Jim Matheson changes his vote I will be convinced this is the reason. His brother should decline the nomination in order to remove all doubt. But he won't. The government isn't for the people anymore, it's beholden to special interests and cronyism. They look out for each other and only care about pushing their agenda though. The wishes of the citizens of this country are no longer even considered. STAND UP AND SAY 'NO MORE' OR RISK LOSING YOU LIBERTY!!!

    I agree with the above post. Matheson should withdraw himself from consideration. I also agree that he won't. Our government is so far away from what the founders intended that it is time to shake the tree and start over. We must get back to the Constitution and hold those who violate it accountable. Are you listening Barack? Nancy? Harry?
