Feb. 20, 2013 was quite a news day especially if you're from Chicago. The day began with the "Gulity" plea entered by former congressman from Illinois Jesse Jackson Jr. of misusing campaign funds. That was followed by a "Guilty" plea entered by Jackson's wife Sandi of falsifying tax returns. With all the attention focused on Washington, DC, very little if any was focused on the "Not Guilty" plea entered by Warren Ballentine in his Chicago "Fraud Case".
I was informed by Ballentine's attorney Ranj Mohip that the plea was entered at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago on Wednesday morning Feb. 20. He stated that Warren was given an I-Bond which means the defendant doesn't have to put up any collateral. The attorney further stated that the prosecution turned over discovery documents in its possession to the defendant's attorneys, and a court date was set for Nov. 4, 2013.
Warren Ballentine in addition to being represented by Attorney Mohip is also getting legal counsel from Chicago Attorney Lewis Meyers Jr. According to sources in Warren's second hometown of Durham, NC he is also receiving counsel from Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogeltree Jr. Professor Ogeltree has gain national notoriety as being Michelle Obama's law professor during her studies at the Harvard School of Law.
Before the recent indictments Warren Ballentine hosted a nationally syndicated talk show on SiriusXM "The Power". His show was abruptly cancelled before the general public had a chance to know what was going on. Since that time another show hosted by Rob Redding has been cancelled and the format now is called "Urban View".
After interviewing several people around Warren's age (41), it came to be apparent that "The People's Attorney" appealed mostly to the younger generation. After posting online in an attempt to gather prevailing opinion on the case, it became obvious that the older generation is willing to just dismiss a person as being guilty simply because they were indicted.
It is not my attempt to try Warren Ballentine's case in the media but simply point out as he did many times on his show how the Justice System works. Most Americans don't have a Law Degree nor have hosted a Nationally Syndicated Show. I would venture to say that not many have Don Lemon, Dick Gregory and Armstrong Williams in their contact list. Perhaps when Warren adopted the name "Truthfighter" as his tag, he's just being tested to see if he's worthy of the title.
