Hikers and campers nationwide are being warned to be extremely cautious and on the lookout for an escaped prisoner, John McCluskey, and his accomplice, Casslyn Welch, from the Arizona State Prison as they make their way through the country by way of isolated areas in parks and forests. INTERPOL, the International Criminal Police Organization,’ has issued an international alert, or Orange Notice, at the request of the United States for both a dangerous escaped convict and the accomplice who is suspected of assisting his jailbreak and that of two other men in Arizona.’ This notification has been sent out to 188 countries.
Daniel Renwick, 36, serving prison time for two counts of 2nd degree murder, Tracy Province, serving a life sentence for murder and robbery and John McCluskey convicted of 2nd degree murder, discharging of a firearm and aggravated assault, were believed to have been aided by Casslyn Welch in an escape from the Arizona State Prison on July 30. It is believed that Welch threw tools over the fence of the prison that aided them in their escape.
Renwick was recaptured in Colorado on Sunday. Tracy Province was arrested in Park County, Wyoming by Us Marshalls while trying to hitchhike to Wyoming. He was captured after a lead put him as having been sited near the Yellowstone National Park area.
It is believed that the escapees kidnapped a pair of truck drivers and their rig, later having released the drivers and abandoned the rig. They are also believed to be linked to the murder of an elderly couple that were camping in a Santa Rosa, New Mexico campground. This murder is still under investigation. Additional information puts McCluskey and Welch near the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas where they are believed to have been responsible for an armed robbery. A daily update today by the ASP Kingman Escapees Task Force states that, 'The last credible sighting of McCluskey and Welch was August 6, 2010 in Billings Montana.'
They are believed to be armed and dangerous and seem to be finding their way by way of isolated parks and forests. In addition, it is believed that John McCluskey has dyed his hair black and has a dark beard while Welch has dyed her hair blonde. These fugitives should NOT be approached but immediately reported to the nearest police department.
Stacey Wittig, Phoenix Hiking Examiner reports that, ‘Anyone with information on the fugitives are asked to call their local police or the ASP Kingman Escapees Task Force in Arizona at 602-542-1212. A $40,000 reward has been offered for information resulting in the capture of the escapees.’
