Minnesota’s Sam Warning, fresh off of a hat trick on Saturday night during Minnesota’s Hockey Day matchup with Ohio State, has been named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week.
Warning ranks second in the Big Ten in points with twenty-six (10-16-26), and also second nationally in plus/minus at +21. The +21 is a Big Ten leading total.
This honor is Warning’s fourth of the season after being honored during the season’s first three weeks by the Big Ten Conference. Nine different Gophers have earned a combined fourteen awards.
Minnesota is in action this weekend at the inaugural North Star Cup, which will see four of the five in-state schools face off against one another. Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota State open play at 4pm on Friday with the Gophers taking on St. Cloud State in the nightcap at 7pm. Saturday sees the consolation game at 4pm with the championship at 7pm. All games will be broadcast by FOX Sports North.
