Maybe at this point you are letting all the air out in a sigh and thinking of a Sex and the City episode where Carrie Bradshaw is dating the Blues enthusiast.
Carrie: “This is a good time to tell you that I don’t like Blues. The music is not for everyone, it is a little sad, loud and extra repetitive: Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... Oh baby why don’t you wanna go?... to sweet home Chicago.“
However ladies, it is a refreshing change for Fort Lauderdale, the birthplace of, “hole in the wall” dive bars, filled with screaming overly drunk spring breakers, playing –always- traditional, mostly American, rock and roll classics such as Jimmy Buffet, Kid Rock, The heartbreakers, Bon Jovi etc…
Lately these rhythms, just as old as Florida's residents, have been slowly spreading throughout this party city. Little places in less populated neighborhoods and venues such the Blue Jeans Jazz and Blues Club, on 33rd street off A1A near Oakland Park Blvd. offers a little taste of something new. Also try Stchmo Blues Bar, in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Events such as the SunTrust Brunch take place the first Sunday of each month and are becoming more popular all the time. Events are always a great opportunity for venders and advertisers to display their image and brand and/or sell their products and services. If you are an advertiser don’t forget to help promote these events and give back to the community.
