A white van has been linked to dog stories for quite some time. According to a March 18, 2014 report by The Dogington Post, a white van has now been seen tossing bags into resident’s yards. The bags are believed to contain some kind of rat poison.

The Potwin Pet Clinic even posted a warning sign on their counter, urging pet owners to watch their animals closely, even in their own yards. The pet clinic reported as many as 15 dogs dying from ingesting rat poison, supposedly from their own yards.

Several Topeka residents have stated that they saw the white van tossing white bags into yards as it drove through neighborhoods. A white van has been reportedly responsible for the thefts or attempted thefts of dogs in several other areas, including St. Louis Mo.

People believe these white bags contain some type of food mixed with rat poison. Other area vets have reported cases of dogs dying from ingesting rat poison as well. It is suspected these dogs also found it in their own yards.

It is always a good idea to be outside with your dogs at all times. If you live in the Topeka area, it is advisable for you to check your yard over thoroughly before allowing your dog to go outside.

This can also pose a very dangerous situation for children. As the weather gets warmer, more children will be outside playing. Small children can quickly pick something up and put it in their mouth, no matter how carefully parents watch them.

Topeka’s animal control manager has urged all pet owners to watch their dogs carefully and to report any illnesses or any suspicious activity in their neighborhood. Please take all precautions to keep your pets safe.
