Among the latest releases from Warner Brothers is a brand new Blu-ray edition of the 1976 musical romance, "A Star is Born," starring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson as two singers falling in love at very different points in their musical careers. Scheduled for release on February 5, 2013, the Blu-ray will be available at a list price of $27.98, although Amazon currently has the film for pre-order at $18.50.
"A Star is Born" features the direction of Frank Pierson as well as the acting and musical talents of Streisand and Kristofferson. The film earned four Oscar nominations and won the award for Best Original Song thanks to Streisand's music and Paul Williams' lyrics for the theme, "Evergreen." The picture also proved a big winner at the Golden Globes, where it claimed five awards, including wins for both of its stars and the award for Best Motion Picture - Musical/Comedy.
The Blu-ray release includes a number of bonus features sure to delight Streisand fans, including a 40-page Blu-ray book with dozens of color photos and information about the background of the film. On the disc, viewers will find a commentary by Streisand, additional scenes, wardrobe tests, and a trailer gallery.
