Warner Brothers Presents Bugs Bunny at the Charlotte Symphony

Have you ever heard the composition “What’s Opera Doc?”  What about “The Rabbit of Seville”?  If you ever watched Bugs Bunny cartoons, then you certainly have.  The Charlotte Symphony under the direction of guest conductor George Daugherty will feature “Bugs Bunny at the Symphony”,  a full concert of such classics with the original music scores played live at the Belk Theater with the original Warner Brothers cartoons on the big screen.

Appearing with Bugs will be an all star cast -- Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Porky and Petunia Pig, Wile E. Coyote, the Roadrunner, Tweety Bird, Granny, Giovanni Jones, Sylvester the cat, Michigan J. Frog, Pepé Le Pew, Witch Hazel, Yosemite Sam, Speedy Gonzales, and the Tasmanian devil.  Making special guest appearances are Tom and Jerry, The Flintstones, and Scooby-Doo.

The music is based on the works of such august classical composers as Wagner, Rossini, Von Suppé, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Smetana, Donizetti, Grieg, Offenbach, and Johann Straus I and II.  Several contemporary popular composers’ works will also sound familiar.

Performances are on Thursday, May 19 at 7 P.M. and Friday, May 20 at 8 P.M. at the Belk Theater of the NC Blumenthal Center for the Performing Arts.  Tickets range from $26.50 to $69.50.  Students only pay half price, so if you are taking a class at CPCC, flash your student identification and be a child at heart.
