Warner Bros. Pictures is in pre-production on the upcoming feature film Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried. The film is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio and will be directed by Catherine Hardwicke. Hardwicke is best known for directing "Twilight", which was the last feature film she directed. She has a penchant for discovering new talent and this film may be no exception. After blasting Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson’s careers into high earth orbit, Hardwicke has already cast two unknowns for lead roles in Red Riding Hood - Shiloh Fernandez and Max Irons.
Shiloh Fernandez, 25, was also one of the four finalists to play Edward Cullen in Twilight and won the part of Peter in Red Riding Hood because of his intensity and strikingly good looks. The 24 year old Max Irons is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and he won over Catherine Hardwicke because she felt that he fit the refined, mysterious role of Henry perfectly.
Red Riding Hood is a thriller that centers on a medieval town that’s been terrorized by a werewolf for generations. Seyfried’s character Valerie is at the center of a love triangle and is a free spirit who often runs counter to her fearful family and town.
Shooting wil take place in the Vacouver, BC area from July 21, 2010 through September 16, 2010.
