Who is the new Batman? None other than Ben Affleck who will take the lead role in the still untitled Superman-Batman feature film that is slated to be released on July 17, 2015.
Warner Bros. made the announcement about Affleck being chosen for the Caped Crusader on August 22, 2013.
He will be the eighth actor to take on the role, following in the footsteps of Christian Bale, George Clooney and Michael Keaton.
In a statement issued to the press, WB president Greg Silverman said, "We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some."
The film will be directed by "Man of Steel" filmmaker Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane will join Ben Affleck in the movie.
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.” - WB president Greg Silverman
If you can't wait to see Ben Affleck on the silver screen, head to the theater on October 4, 2013. Affleck will appear in the new thriller, "Runner Runner" with Justin Timberlake.
