Warner Bros. casts young Peter Pan

Levi Miller has been cast to play the iconic role of Peter Pan
Warner Bros.

In the upcoming live-action adaptation of Pan, Warner Bros. has cast newcomer Levi Miller to play Peter Pan, the boy who refuses to grow up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, director Joe Wright was looking for a newcomer. A long search of open casting calls in the U.K.ultimately led Miller to land the coveted role of Pan.

Miller joins Hugh Jackman, who will play the main villain Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund who will play a young Hook, and Rooney Mara who recently signed up to play Tiger Lily.

Mara’s casting has garnered controversy regarding her role as Tiger Lily since the character is of Native American descent.

The film will be a new take on the classic story based on J.M Barrie’s Peter Pan. It is set during WWII and follows an orphan who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he discovers he’s destined to save the land from the pirate Blackbeard.

Pan is being penned by Jason Fuchs with Greg Berlanti producing, and Sarah Schechter overseeing for the studio.

Miller appeared in Fox’s Terra Nova.

Pan is expected to hit theaters July 17, 2015.
