Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have just signed on to host The 71st Annual Golden Globes Awards, scheduled to air live on Sunday, Jan. 12, from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif.. NBC also just announced Tuesday that Fey and Poehler will not only take on hosting duties for the next iteration of the popular awards ceremony, but have committed to repeating for a third time the following year in 2015, according to USA Today on Oct. 15. Perhaps someone should warn Taylor Swift.
In what was widely held out as the best ceremony of the 2013 awards show season, this year's Golden Globes drew in 20 million viewers in January, thanks largely to hilarious co-hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. But their jokes at Swift's expense didn't seem to go over too well with the pop princess.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Theo Kingma made the triumphant announcement along with Dick Clark Productions and NBC.
"Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season", said Paul Telegdy, NBC's President of Alternative and Late Night Programming.
Fey just wrapped her hit NBC series "30 Rock", while Poehler is currently filming the sixth season of her NBC smash sitcom "Parks and Recreation".
This year's Golden Globes telecast drew 19.7 million viewers, which was up 17 percent from the previous year. Fey, 43, and Poehler, 42, who happen to be real-life besties were a hit with both critics and viewers alike, according to E! News.
The live chemistry between the two funny ladies began when the pair co-anchored Weekend Update on SNL in the mid-2000s.
Perhaps again the only one that won't be happy about today's news is Taylor Swift, who didn't seem to care for the comic duo's jokes about her dating life.
