Warmachine gets an upgrade

On February 9th Privateer Press announced Warmachine Mk. II and Hordes Mk. II, to be released in early and late 2010 respectively. These two popular games are receiving not just a revision, as seen recently with the release of Warmachine Prime: Remix, but instead the rules are getting a complete re-write from the ground up.

According to the press release, which is now viewable on their front page, Privateer plans to preview the rules to the public through an open beta test during the month of April this year. This play test is rumored to be through a league style play circuit and will likely be accessible through local gaming stores and official clubs.
Concurrent with the press release Privateer also issued a very detailed Warmachine Mk. II FAQ that answers most of the answerable questions concerning the new releases at this point. What is known for certain is that the main goal of the new version is to provide better balance between units and options not only within Warmachine but also in the interactions between Warmachine and Hordes, which has seen a rising discrepancy in the capabilities of units and options since Hordes was released three years ago.
Initial fan response to this activity is mostly positive, with players and gaming clubs scrambling to make sure they can get in on the public test of the Mk. II rules in April. Privateer Press has also dedicated a whole forum on their message boards to this topic, here
