Now that the cold winter months have officially arrived here in New England, it’s time to think comfort food. No one seems to know that better than the folks at Edward & Sons Trading Company.
The California-based company first introduced Miso-Cup natural instant soup to consumers 35 years ago. Since then, the all-natural vegetarian company has introduced a soft pack Miso-Cup line with a new Spicy Ginger flavor, which features 80 percent organic ingredients, and contains ginger, peppers, onions, shiitake mushroom, kelp and miso flavors.
To create the flavor, the company’s miso craftsmen age certified organic soybeans with rice koji (organic rice made “active” by a traditional starter culture), with sea salt regulating the aging process to yield rich and flavorful miso soup. Each Spicy Ginger Miso-Cup Soft Pack has three individual servings with just 45 calories, three grams of protein, and no cholesterol, saturated fat or trans fat.
We also love their collection of pastas, especially the creamy nondairy Organic Cheddar Shells & Chreese. Made with semolina shells, the vegan pasta dinners are made with a Cheddar-style nondairy Chreese sauce mix. If you are looking to make the dish a little creamier, try adding a buttery spread or olive oil when preparing to create a cheesier sauce.
