We have survived quite the frigid week in Chicago! Luckily, we should see some warmer temperatures (in the 30s!) this weekend, so take advantage of the heat wave and spend time with friends, family, and loved ones.
If you are into music, XRT is having their holiday show, featuring The Flaming Lips, Phoenix, and Pete Yorn TONIGHT (Friday). On Saturday night, I Fight Dragons is playing at the Metro with Cobalt and the Hired Guns. If B96 is more up your alley, check out the Jingle Bash at the Allstate Arena Saturday night instead. Also this weekend, is Q101's Twisted 2009 show, featuring Shinedown is on Sunday.
Cirque de Soleil's Banana Schpeel is also featured this weekend and provides a unique kind of entertainment to this wonderful city. From a theatre aspect, you could head over to the Rosemont Theatre for the Moscow Ballet's rendition of the Nutcracker, an all time holiday favorite. The Joffrey Ballet is another opportunity to experience the incredibly amazing art of dance.
As always, there are always a variety of sporting events to check out this weekend in Chicago. If it's too cold outside for you, check out a Bulls game. Or, bear the cold for our beloved Bears as we watch them beat the Packers! And last, but certainly not least, you can check out our Blackhawks on Sunday.
If none of those events sound appealing, you can find many more here.
Regardless of what activity you choose to spend time with friends, family, and loved ones, make sure to really value your time together. The holidays are always a good time to reconnect, so don't let this year be an exception. Our interpersonal relationships are essential to our overall well-being and should be just as much a priority as our work, or holiday shopping. So don't forget to warm up these relationships despite the chilly weather!
