A warm front will approach the region today with a period of light accumulating snow transitioning to a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain from southwest to northeast across the region as the day progresses. Near record warmth will then arrive into mid-week ahead of a strong cold front that will bring a round of rain and wind, and perhaps a thunderstorm, later on Wednesday. Colder temperatures will return by the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend.
- A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire region until 7 a.m. Tuesday. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain accumulations will make for hazardous travel on area roadways and sidewalks.
