This Summer has featured an interesting trend where the first two or three days of the week are warm even hot and humid and the end of the week and weekend are cool and comfortable. This week is no different except for the fact that New Jersey will only have one truly warm and humid day as temperatures will feel like the upper 80's to lower 90's.

As high pressure drifts off the New England coast today, hazy skies will give way to increasing clouds as a cold front approaches. Scattered cloud cover can be expected by this evening with winds from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures this afternoon will peak in the lower to mid 80's along the coast and mid to upper 80's throughout the rest of New Jersey. I should point out that many locations will simply end up near normal for this time of year. This Summer has been so cool that near normal feels hot.

Tonight, clouds will continue to increase as the cold front slowly inches towards New Jersey. Showers and thunderstorms will hold off through tomorrow morning. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60's over northwestern New Jersey and mid to upper 60's over the rest of New Jersey.

Tomorrow, the cold front will slowly move through New Jersey with showers and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms will be capable of heavy downpours, occasional to frequent lightning, small hail, and wind gusts over 30 mph. Winds will slowly veer from the southwest to northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 80's ahead of the cold front with temperatures falling through the 70's in the early evening and dew points crashing into the 50's and 40's.

Cool, Canadian Polar high pressure will take hold by Thursday with clearing skies and winds from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph. Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 50's over northwestern New Jersey and upper 50's to lower 60's along the coast. High temperatures will rise into the upper 70's to lower 80's along the coast and lower to mid 80's throughout rest of New Jersey.

High pressure will remain in control for Friday and Saturday with clear skies and comfortable weather conditions. Temperatures will average near to below normal with lows in the lower to mid 60's and highs in the lower to mid 80's.

An area of low pressure will pass to the south of New Jersey while high pressure will remain over New England. The combination of these two features will lead to a constant easterly wind at 5 to 15 mph and scattered to overcast clouds. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60's for lows and upper 70's to lower 80's for highs.
