Warm and humid today, threat of thunderstorms returns on Friday

A warm front has now moved to the north of the area. Warmer and more humid air will spread northward across the region today. Under partly sunny skies, temperatures will climb to just above 80 degrees.

Tonight will be fair and warm.

On Friday, a cold front will approach from the west. The models are a little slower with this system today and it looks like it will take until Friday night or early Saturday for the front to reach our area. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday afternoon, with a better chance of showers and storms Friday night and Saturday as the front moves through.

Temperatures will be very warm on Friday, but will cool a bit on Saturday due to the cloud cover and rainfall.

Here is the forecast: For today, it will be partly sunny. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. Winds SW 10-15 mph.

Tonight, partly cloudy with lows around 60. Winds S 10 mph.

Friday, partly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon. Highs on Friday will be near 80 degrees. Winds SW 10-15 mph.

Friday night, mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely. Lows will be around 60.

Saturday, mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s.

Extended Analysis: A stationary front will set up across our area Saturday night and Sunday. A few scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Sunday, mainly during the afternoon.

Low pressure will develop over the Mid Mississippi Valley Sunday night and track toward the western Great Lakes Monday. This system will pull a warm front northward across our area late Monday or Monday night. Showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday and Monday night with the passage of this front.

Tuesday will be quite warm and humid with the warm front to our north, and a cold front approaching from the west. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible, especially Tuesday afternoon as the cold front moves closer to the area.
