With the release of the sixth edition of Warhammer 40,000 about two months passed, the accompanying boxed starter set has finally been announced. Titled "Dark Vengeance," Games Workshop pits Chaos against the Dark Angels with some as yet unreleased and very cool looking minis. The boxed set does come with the standard pocket sized rulebook as well as a quick-play guide, an assembly guide, army roster sheet, dice, templates, and booklet with six scenarios to play with the figures included in the box.

The Dark Vengeance set is a limited one hundred dollar release, but fortunately players can pre-order the set and receive it on launch day. If you order by August 26th and have it shipped to a Games Workshop hobby center, you will be able to pick it up on September first guaranteed. However, if you order by Aug. 29 and have it shipped to your house, the item will guaranteed be shipped on Aug. 31.

Dark Vengeance will, after this initial release, be split into two smaller sets: one composed of Chaos and the other of Dark Angels. This is a rare move by Games Workshop, but it does provide players with a cheaper alternative to the usual hundred dollar boxed sets. Considering that the rules themselves cost seventy dollars, this is a great deal for new players and veterans who want to get their hands on new minis.

If you're in the Bay Area and want to celebrate in style, check out Oakland's EndGame on September eighth for a day long Dark Vengeance launch event. There will be games, prizes, and plenty of people around to gush with about the grim darkness of the far future.
