'Warface' co-op and competitive free-to-play FPS beta launches for Xbox 360

A beta for Warface, the free-to-play co-op and competitive online multiplayer shooter from Crytek, landed on the Xbox 360 on Wednesday.

Warfare is set in the near future and feature class-based gameplay as players take on the Blackwood military in co-operative missions or each other in competitive matches. The available classes include the Rifleman, Medic, Engineer, and Sniper that come with their own special abilities and tactics.

The Rifleman provides the primary firepower and can also dole out ammo boxes for everyone to resupply with. Medics are equipped with a shotgun as their main weapon for close-quarters combat but can also heal themselves and teammates. The Engineer class carries SMGs as well as claymores and mines plus can repair the armor of his squadmates. Finally, the Sniper does what snipers do best - long range shooting.

Those interested in the Warface beta should head over to to sign-up. Note that you will need an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription to participate. Additionally, the beta is only available in United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Nordics, Australia, and New Zealand.
