'Warehouse 13' Season 4 expanded to 20 episodes by Syfy

Syfy has ordered seven additional episodes of "Warehouse 13," bringing Season 4 to 20 episodes, Deadline reported Friday (January 13).

The hour-long dramedy, created by Jack Kenny, stars Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly as two agents working at a government-owned warehouse for supernatural artifacts.

The cable network renewed "Warehouse 13" for a 13-episode fourth season in August, the same episode order as Season 3 and the first two seasons.

The third season averaged about 2 million viewers, its highest-rated season among adults 18-49. It also helped launch Syfy's new drama "Alphas" last summer.

The network previously announced plans for a "Warehouse 13" spinoff centering on the character of H.G. Wells played by Jaime Murray. The project is being developed by Kenny and fellow "Warehouse" writer Bob Goodman.

Here's the description of the series from The Hollywood Reporter:

While it is still in the early stages and thus subject to change, the idea is to put Wells in a 1890s steampunk environment. Despite Warehouse 12’s efforts to recruit her, she would remain a free agent who uses her knowledge of contemporary science to solve murders and other mysteries.

In this incarnation, she would enlist the help of a mechanical engineer and utilize her relationship with the police commissioner to solve what appear to be unsolvable cases. Both the skills and style she employs will become the framework for the well-known stories of H.G. Wells, as written by her brother.

According to the site, Kenny told the crowd at Comic-Con that the project is in the very early stages, but Syfy has already "gotten interested in the notion."

No word yet on whether Season 4 of "Warehouse 13" will be split up like Syfy has done with its series in the past, though Airlock Alpha is reporting that it may premiere as early as April instead of during the summer.
