It's a year later and now over 500 churches and Christian organizations are preparing for the 2012 EACH (Everyone A Chance to Hear) initiative. Their first major event is a prayer rally to be hosted by Ward Church in Northville, Michigan.
The rally will bring together people from every walk of life with the singular purpose of praising God for the success of the 2011 campaign and for guidance in preparing for and completing the tasks needed for a successful 2012 initiative. The event begins at 7 p.m., but I strongly recomment that you try to arrive between 6:15 and 6:45, because last year the crowd was so large that people had to gather in two separate locations within the church to participate in the rally.
This event will feature prayer, music and several guest speakers. There were also be an opportunity for participants to purchase the $1 prayer guide that can be used to prepare for the 2012 EACH initiative.
Last year thousands of volunteers swept across metropolitan Detroit with "Good News" and
"Good Deeds". The "Good News" is:
"God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:16-17, New Living Translation)
The "Good Deeds" are best explained with an example. EACH has partnered with Forgotten Harvest to manage a "Daily Bread" program that feeds more than 500 families every week. There are seven different Daily Bread agencies in the metro area that distribute food in the metro area. My journey with EACH began last year when Memorial Church of Christ (in Livonia), joined this effort with approximately 400 churches in southeastern Michigan. The EACH organization was kind enough to permit me to write 40 days of devotional material and publish it in the Examiner.com in preparation for the program’s Easter kickoff in 2011.
This year I have agreed to serve as my church's EACH coordinator as we plan to provide good news and deeds to the people living in metropolitan Detroit. I hope you will join me in tomorrow night's EACH Prayer Rally. Ward Church is located at 40000 Six Mile Road in Northville.
