Warbeast ready to brutalize Boise, Jan 24 with Down: Bruce Corbitt sounds off (Photos)

Hellbent and heavy, Texas thrash merchants, Warbeast will descend on Boise along with Phil Anselmo and Down. The event takes place Thursday, January 24 at The Knitting Factory. Tickets are still available.

Warbeast is touring in support of its split EP release with Phil Anselmo and The Illegals, "War of the Gargantuas" which was released this week on Anselmo's own Housecore Records. "War of the Gargantuas" features two new songs from each artist to give fans a taste of their individual 2013 full length efforts.

Warbeast expects to release its sophomore album, "Destroy" in March, the much anticipated follow up to 2010's. "Krush the Enemy". The album will feature founding members vocalist Bruce Corbitt (Rigor Mortis), guitarist Scott Shelby (Gammacide) and drummer Joe Gonzalez (Demonseed). In addition, new bassist Dre’ Karst (Infernal Aggression) makes his debut along with new guitarist Bobby “Junior” Tillotson (Demonseed).

On Tuesday, January 8, I had the opportunity to speak with frontman, Corbitt. You can check out the full interview here.

Bruce admitted that he has no recollection of past Boise performances and believes this may be his first time here. I promised him the Treasure Valley fans will make sure this proves to be a memorable occasion for him.

I asked Bruce how much of the new material from "War of the Gargantuas" and "Destroy" Boise fans can expect to hear at the band's forthcoming show:

"We’re very proud of the second full length coming out in a couple of months. We’re just trying to pick our favorite songs out from everything. We’ll be playing the two split songs and like five songs off the upcoming destroy album."

As to the two tracks on the "War of the Gargantuas" split EP Corbitt said: "I do think they give you a good idea of what’s to come on the full length album."
