I’ve stated before when asked about chiming in my thoughts on politics that my initial tendency is to stay out of it, so many sides, so many opinions. But in most regards, I think that stance is actually an accentuation of the “problem” so .. I step back, I think methodically, and I choose my words, from a space that I believe to be truth and on behalf of one common goal that is secular, a world of Peace and Love.
This could sound “fluffy” which Is part of the vast problem, is that the end result of peace is not taken into consideration for every action we take. In my opinion, peace should be the point of all striving, in every situation. So we have to, then when posed with current world affairs in our current position ask ourselves, what are our motives?
Are we driven by the desire for world peace, and to truly put an end to chemical weapons? Which let’s face, could drastically backfire, the idea of regulating rules of war in general is only about a century or so old, and is only valid while people “keep their word” in battle… who is to say that our actions don’t insight more war? Perpetuate further use of chemical weapons?? It’s the old, fighting fire with fire theory, usually water works better…
Or… are our actions about victory? In which case the idea is defeat, not peace
To me, to speak in regard to that answer, we must speak to our society, to look upon our own home in an evaluation space of how we are doing.
The cardinal rule, in spirituality is that everything starts and stops with yourself, so if you seek to change something externally, you must first reflect inward to your own world. How does this unspoken truth become any different when applied to a potential battlefield? And within the world? Shouldn’t we before we begin to try to regulate “peace” anywhere else in the world by force, first begin to come to ways to find that within our own home?
With situations such as GMO’S … Genetically Modified Food products proven to contain carcinogens and other chemical properties detrimental to the human body lining our shelves, feeding our children
With hundreds, thousands dying in the street, children, in our back yards going hungry.
Bank “owned” foreclosed homes by the Thousands owned by big business bankers such as Chase, Fannie Mae, EMC… more home’s then homeless people, and STILL people on the street
With criminalization being a daily result of being homeless, or mentally unstable, instead of proper hospitalization and rehab
With large corporations such as Wal Mart producing low grade low quality products at large rates, destroying local sustainable values, threatening family farmers, organic ranchers who give you the best possible gift you could ever get from food… love! The mark of care, the signature of passion, and if we take that away from our tables? From our own families then what right do we have going and telling anyone, anything in the world.
The fact of the matter is this, even if a peace treaty could be drawn up in Syria, who is available to sign on the rebels behalf? Anyway you look at the situation in regards to military aid is unpredictable, unstable and potentially creating a situation that is even more deadly and hostile, and worse? Sending a message to the world that states that we are not about peace, but victory
IF we are about peace, then we draw back, all the curtains, and we cut back, all the corners, we start here, in our homes providing proper resources and distribution to our people, we create holistic health clinics, well houses, and rehabs, where patient care is taken into consideration beyond the major health care conglomerates pockets. We make it about the family, and love, and from that mark and space we stand tall bound together a nation of mutual respect, hope, and protection.
From that space, we work together with the world to create binding peace treaties, setting aside cultural differences, religious separations, realizing for once and for all, we all share 1 planet, 1 home, divided by content, and that’s the lot. We are ALL here together, and we have a major opportunity in that regard to share, enjoy, relish in our cultures, learn and GROW. Another reason we should stand bound with our other large nations which can prove to be rational minded allies for world peace, both now and in the time to come.
There are those with theories that despite any actions we take, the fighting will continue in Syria, a natural way of balancing out the powers within the region, what I see as a giant opportunity for people to learn, and an unfortunate one for peaceful, innocent civilians, the same such civilians that lines the street protected by nothing more than paper bags here on Skid Row.
So, tackle life’s injustices 1 at a time, starting here in our home now.
You can’t control anyone, BUT you can project goodness, and in that regard you can call people to that same truth by not force, but example.
The answer? Love. The striving point? In my opinion, Peace, in every situation.
In regards to war in Syria? Just say No. Remember, your thoughts and energy is powerful!
