War Master plays the Lost Well on Friday, January 10

Houston-based death metal quintet War Master will return to Austin this Friday night at the Lost Well, a metal-friendly eastside venue. The band is slowly morphing into an Austin act with local members of the Blood Royale and Hod rounding out a revamped lineup.

In case you didn't guess, War Master is Bolt Thrower worship of the first order, and they're currently in support of their new EP, Blood Dawn, which should have made this reporter's "Best Metal of 2013", but was acquired too late to make the cut. In any case, it's an excellent throwback to the days when Earache Records ruled the roost and only 40 people showed up to the average Bolt Thrower show. There's no need to recreate that part of the experience, mind you. Both the admission and the beer are good and cheap for this outing, so be sure to make it out!

The lineup:

War Master
Mourning Cloak

The venue:

The Lost Well
2421 Webberville Rd,
Austin, TX 78702

Admission is $5
Doors at 8pm
Music at 10pm
