UNIT A Contemporary Art Space will be exhibiting Marcus Jansen’s 2008 painting War Games during September Art Walk. This 60 x 72″ oil and enamel on canvas is being displayed for the first time in Fort Myers in observance of 9/11.
War Games was last exhibited in London in 2008 at Jansen's solo Urban Expressionism show at Stolen Space Gallery (which followed Shepard Fairey’s opening the month earlier). Next stop is Art Verona International Art Fair in Italy on October 10, 2013. Because participation is limited by the event's organizers to high-profile art galleries, Art Verona is considered one of the few important Italian art shows that absolutely cannot be missed. And for that reason, Jansen's Milan gallery has chosen to introduce Jansen to the Italian and European art market at the fair, which serves as a prelude to an important solo museum show in 2014.
Although UNIT A was open weekdays during the summer, it is now only open during Art Walk and by appointment during the week. So tomorrow night will be the general public's only opportunity to view War Games, the entire Jansen collection and new work by Jonas Stirner.
