Wanting to be found

One of the most favorite things my son and I do is play peek-a-boo.  He hides but he wants to be found.  The human race has a natural tendency to hide because it all started when Adam and Eve hid themselves from God after they sinned.  But there is an innate desire to be found as well and we in an effort to be found tend to try to find ourselves in so many destructive alternatives other than God.

So many obstacles stemming from our own sin, other’s sin, and our Enemy can effectively “hide” us.  But I for one want to be found.  I want my heart to be known.  I want to be loved and I do not want to “not” be searched out and found—to be overlooked.  I think you deep down feel the same way.  Thank God, He did not overlook us—the Lamb of God was slain before the foundation of the world with you in mind, so you no longer have to hide.  Reader, whatever you are facing right now, wherein you may even feel God is hiding from you—know that if no one else wants to find you—He has already found you—He who knew no sin became sin so that we may become the righteousness of God in Him—we are truly found when we are in Him.

This is such a profound Truth and we need His Spirit to make it real in our thought processes.  We need to not be conformed anymore to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind.  I know I have a long way to go and you may feel the same way, but be encouraged our God is a God with us, a God for us and not against us, a God who loves for us to hide in Him.  Our truest life is hidden in Christ.  “For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:3 NASB

Hope for the one who has sought to be found in anything but God:

“For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.   “When you become the father of children and children’s children and have remained long in the land, and act corruptly, and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD your God so as to provoke Him to anger, I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will surely perish quickly from the land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it. You shall not live long on it, but will be utterly destroyed.  The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you. There you will serve gods, the work of man’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.  When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.  For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.” Deuteronomy 4:24-31 NASB

Hope in His resurrection power to be found in Him:

“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,  and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.  Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead,  I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:7-14 NASB

Hope from Truth that God sees your heart which may be hidden from others:

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 NASB

Hope from the Truth that the Lord has known you always:

O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways.  Even before there is a word on my tongue,
Behold, O LORD, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high, I cannot attain to it.  Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, “Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, and the light around me will be night,” Even the darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You. For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.” Psalm 139:1-18 NASB
