Oscar time is here and your invitation hasn’t arrived. But, lighten up. Get in the party zone and try to select which wine would describe of some of this year’s nominated films.
Here goes:
“Les Miz”: A fiercely spirited, Bordeaux with plenty of backbone and strength that could lead a revolution in the glass and on the palate.
“Silver Linings Playbook”: An unconventional blend of unusual varietals such as aglianico, corvina Veronese and dolcetto could cause some havoc but experimentation can result in a polarizing finish.
“Argo”: An enterprising full-bodied and assertive mourvedre that flourishes in the harshest of conditions. It is bold and pungent with a victorious finish.
“The Life of Pi”: An adventurous, young sauvignon blanc with high sugar and a citrus bite. While it can be aggressive on the palate, it tempers to a clean and lingering finish.
Amour”: An elegant, highly regarded cabernet sauvignon with a lush history that improves beautifully with age.
“Lincoln”: A revered, respected zinfandel that can be bold and generous. Rich with wisdom and a long shelf life; it is a wine for the ages.
“Zero Dark Thirty”: An inky black, thick skinned petite sirah. With rigorous training it has become deeper, more complex and determined.
