When you buy a bottle Trinity Oaks 2012 chardonnay you combine charity with a touch of your own hedonism.

For more than five years, the wine brand has helped plant more than 1 million trees through its “One Bottle, One Tree” tree planting program. The mission of the program in partnership with the non-profit organization – Trees for the Future – is to plant millions of trees in areas of the world most in need of reforestation. They also serve as windbreaks for crop protection, living fences for livestock and helping with erosion control.

But, back to what’s in the 2012 chardonnay bottle ($8).

The grapes for the chardonnay come from Monterey County coast and the majority from Sacramento Delta and Lodi region.

To enhance aromas and mouthfeel, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and then aged in a combination of French and American oak.

This selection opens with succulent flavors of citrus, melon, pineapple and caramel with sweet oak and vanilla flavors. It is medium bodied, with a long finish and food friendly, making it the ideal accompaniment for light fare.

Pour this slightly chilled with grilled catfish with light Cajun seasonings or with deep fried chicken with buttermilk and flour coating.
