Wanna be a part of the music business?

With the advent of crowd funding sites, such as Kickstarter, PledgeMusic and Indiegogo, it is now possible for artists to create and for their fans to be a part of that creative process.

It's getting harder and harder for artists to land lucrative label deals, but the power of crowd funding makes their dreams attainable.

Some recent successes include NBC The Voice contestants Katrina Parker and Jordis Unger, Rockstar Supernova contestant Dilana, and local LA artists Autumn Kramer, Big Papa & the TCB, Melissa Polinar, Ernie Halter, Tiff Jimber, Sara Routh, Josh Damigo and Amy Speace on Kickstarter; Keaton Simons, Nina Storey, Kyler England (The Rescues), Shane Alexander, JC Villafan, Saucy Monky and Libbie Schrader on PledgeMusic and of Verona, Adjoa, May Stands Still and Julie Neumark on Indiegogo.

The latest artist to try this is a pair of Venice Beach performers, Avasa & Matty Love. Here's their description of the project:

"Thank you for taking a moment to check out our Indigogo Campaign, for our new album 'The Road'! We are inspired about the opportunities that these new paradigm crowd-funding platforms can provide for the sharing of music, and sustainability of artists. As the old model of the record label business collapses, fundraising campaigns have risen to take their place as a way to support artists and new music."

"We are husband and wife singer-songwriters. We write and compose music together inspired by love. Our intention is to create sounds that uplifts the heart and brings light to the soul."

"We have been together from the moment we met, for the past four years. We're so grateful to be on a journey of music together, and to share it with the world. We released our first EP Love is King Love is Queen two weeks after we married in October of 2011. At this point, the writing for our second album, The Road, is complete, and we are looking to this campaign to fund its recording and production. Any amount that you are able to contribute to the creation of this art, will allow for us to walk forward with more strength, as we work to bring more positivity, light and joy to humanity. As a perk for your generosity, we have provided gift incentives."

"From our humble perspective, the world needs more peace, love, light, joy and conscious music. Our music is a message from the heart, directly to the heart. We've been a witness to miracles occur in the last two years, as a result of the first album we released. People share with us all the time, "I start my morning with your music" and that it uplifts their entire perspective of life. We've even received stories about family members reconnecting after being inspired by some of the lyrics in Love is King Love is Queen. We are happy that this positive affect is taking place, because it is our intention to make music that is helpful and loving for human consciousness. With this next album, our goal is to perform, tour and share our love/music…with all of you. Of course this wouldn't be possible without you, so THANK YOU from the depths of our heart, for spending a moment to read and discover us and our music."
