On Saturday, March 2, 2013, Mixed Martial Arts fans in the Inland Empire can watch a special Ultimate Fighting Championship event. The UFC will hold an event called UFC on Fuel TV 8 in the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. The main event card will be shown on Fuel TV at 7PM, and the preliminary fights can be seen on the UFC's Facebook page starting at 4PM.
The main event will feature a match between Wanderlei Silva, who was a big star in Japan when he fought for Pride Fighting Championships, and US Marine Brian Stann, who was born in an air base in Japan.
Some notable Japanese fighters will be fighting in the event. Takanori Gomi, who was at one time considered by many to be the best fighter in the lightweight division, will fight Diego Sanchez. Gomi is coming off two straight wins in the UFC, his most recent one coming against Mac Danzig, winner of The Ultimate Fighter 6. Former number one contender Yushin Okami will fight Hector Lombard, who has competed in judo in the Olympics. Okami has a record of 12 wins and four losses in the UFC.
