Part of the reason I moved to Florida was that I was tired of ice and snow, but I don't mind seeing them occasionally. That's why I see Wandering Oaken's Frozenland at Disney's Hollywood Studios as a perfect spot to stop this summer. It's part of the park's Frozen Summer Fun event, which runs daily through September 1st. There's a processional and royal welcome by Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff, a fun Frozen sing-a-long, shopping in Wandering Oaken's Trading Post, and a big fireworks capper at night. That's all lots of fun, but be sure to run next door when you're at the trading post to enjoy the Frozen Funland chill.
What can you do once you get inside? First, enjoy the cold! It feels so refreshing after outdoor temperatures in the 90s. Next, you can build a snowman, or just make a snow ball or snow sculpture or whatever else you wish. There are little toys like buckets, shovels, and molds for the kids. The snow play is free, and there's also a good-sized ice rink for an extra charge. Don't worry if you didn't pack your ice skates as there are plenty for rent at the rink.
Click the slideshow accompanying this article for some scenes from inside the Frozen Funland. I recommend getting to the park early and heading over here first thing, as the crowds build steadily later in the day as more people arrive and families seek out a cool respite from the brutal summer sun. Just head through the Pixar area and you'll find it on your right.
Also inside Wandering Oaken's Frozen Funland is a snack bar where you can enjoy Frozen-themed treats. Actually, you can buy the Frozen inspired treats at various places around the park, including Wandering Oaken's Trading Post and many of the eateries. Jump to this article to see some tasty examples.
Make sure you have your charge card and a big chunk of room on your limit if you head next door to the trading post. There's enough Frozen merchandise to boggle the mind of any fan who's been search for an Elsa doll or Olaf Magic Band. Go to this article for a slideshow of some of the merchandise.
