Walmart truck of the future: WAVE truck prototype like Batmobile on steroids

The Walmart truck is the envy of drivers everywhere, even those who have never driven a big rig. This cutting edge Walmart truck looks like one “bad ass” vehicle that will command the roads!

According to Web Pro News on April 2, while the truck looks like its created decades before its time, its awe-inspiring features were on display at the Mid-America Trucking Show. A prototype of the Walmart truck stole the show at this Louisville, Kentucky venue.

Besides looking like the most aerodynamic vehicle to ever be plopped on top of wheels, the truck is an eco-friendly gem. While this particular WAVE truck may never get on the road, as it is only a prototype, Walmart is expected to test out the features that make this truck a serious attempt at greening up the highways of the nation.

The Walmart truck, pictured above, was a jaw-dropping display for the Trucking show attendees. The cab almost resembles that of a serious bird with the hood forming into a beak-like shape. While looking at Walmart’s new truck, you just know that there is a bat cave-like location that houses this thing! It is truly a work of art.

The Walmart truck is apparently offered up as evidence of the sincerity of Walmart’s promise, which was made back in 2006. That was to have Walmart's massive fleet of trucks double its fuel efficiency by 2015.

Along with the reveal of the truck Walmart also reports that it has improved its fuel efficiency of its approximate fleet of 6,500 trucks to the tune of 84 percent over the baseline from 2005.

The WAVE truck is 4,000 pounds lighter than a traditional 18-wheeler on the highway and offers 20 percent less aerodynamic drag. The truck will run on gas and electricity, cutting down on emissions significantly.

This is as far as the Walmart prototype truck has evolved. There’s no projected date when the truck will actually take to the highway. Along with all the innovated technology that comes along with this Walmart truck, it also gives the retail and grocery giant quite the presence on the road, which is some great free advertising.
