An innovative, emissions-reducing Walmart truck wows with its cutting-edge engineering. The truck holds 20 percent more aerodynamics than other trucks of the fleet.
"When Wal-Mart began our sustainability journey, I never thought it would lead us to trucks like this," said Walmart's president and CEO, Doug McMillon.
According to MSN Apr. 1, this heavy vehicle structure is called W.A.V.E. (Walmart Advanced Vehicle Experience). It made its grand debut at the Mid-America Trucking Show last Friday. The design meets the standards that Walmart required for being more environmentally conscious. The Walmart truck is a prototype built by Great Dane Trailers, Peterbilt and Roush Engineering. It's a highly unique looking tractor-trailer that has a sports car-like lower level of the cab.
Believe it or not, this invention most likely won't be seen on the road. McMillon said the Walmart truck will help them "test new technologies and new approaches. I share it because it gives you a sense of how sustainability is helping us see things in new ways."
