Walmart recalls 174,000 My Sweet Baby/My Sweet Love dolls; burn hazard cited

Walmart is recalling 174,000 baby dolls that pose a burn hazard.

Walmart has issued a recall for My Sweet Baby and My Sweet Love dolls, the Consumer Products Safety Commission announced on March 25. The electronic circuit board in the doll's chest may overheat and could burn consumers. Walmart has received 12 reports of overheating incidents with two reports of burns and blisters.

The dolls were sold at Walmart stores nationwide from August 2012 through March 2014 for $20.

The interactive dolls are dressed in pink floral outfits topped with pink knit caps and are packaged with toy medical kits. The hearts of the dolls, the hazardous circuit boards, create babbling noises and cause the dolls’ checks to flush. Providing care with items from the medical kit stops these symptoms.

The doll is identified by UPC 6-04576-16800-5 and a date code that begins with WM. The date code is printed on a label sewn into the bottom of the doll.

Consumers should immediately take the dolls away from their children, remove the batteries and return them to any Walmart store for a refund. For more information, consumers may contact Walmart at (800)925-6278 or visit the Walmart product recall webpage.
