Walmart, Kmart, Old Navy, The Gap stores open on Thanksgiving Day 2009

Walmart, Kmart, the Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy are opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day in 2009 and hope that this will ensure that they have a profitable holiday season. Kmart has been open on Thanksgiving Day for the past few years, but this is the first time for Walmart, The Gap, Banana Republic, and Old Navy.  Sales for the 2008 holiday season was one of the worst holiday seasons on record, and many retailers are hoping to cash in on buyer spending this 2009 holiday season.

Most stores are still closed on Thanksgiving Day, but these retailers are open on this Thanksgiving Day 2009.

Store hours:
Most Walmart stores will be open 24 hours on Thanksgiving and some open at 6 p.m.
Kmart is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Gap is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Banana Republic is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Old Navy is open noon to 7 p.m.

A limited number of Starbucks and McDonald's locations will also be open on Thanksgiving Day. Other retailers will open at 12 a.m. Thanksgiving night. These includes some Bath and Body Works stores, Victoria’s Secret stores, and Toys r Us stores. Then most stores are open by 5 am on Black Friday. Check the Thanksgiving Day newspaper for Black Friday ads and deals.
